SWC is a family, people not buildings or programs. Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Our ministries help us do that. We want to help you live your best possible life, build a legacy worth leaving, and be certain of your eternal destination.
Our over-arching goal is that all would know the love of God found in Jesus Christ. All of our staff, programming, and budget is dedicated to that goal. We are a Purpose Driven Church. The baseball diamond is one way to see our ministry model. We exist for people to: Know - Grow - Serve - Share Christ. We encourage people to "run the bases." Our Ministry Model 1 - Fellowship. Through on-line and on-site worship and programming we want to build a faith family that cares for one another, our communities, and world. The goals of 1st base are: a Profession of Faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; Baptism; and Church Membership (Matthew 28:19). 2 - Discipleship. Through on-line and on-site worship, small groups, classes, and activities we want to build a growing awareness and practice of Christ's teaching and commands. The goals of 2nd base are becoming proficient in the marks of a disciple: Prayers - Presence - Gifts - Service - Witness (Matthew 28:20, 2 Timothy 2:15). 3 - Ministry. Through on-line and on-site worship and service opportunities we want to build a humble but powerful Kingdom workforce. The goals of 3rd base are expressing your growing love for and devotion to Christ and His cause through ministry in our homes, on campus, in our communities and world (Matthew 22:39, James 1:22-25). 4 - Evangelism. Through on-line and on-site worship and faith sharing opportunities we want to build a credible witness to the life and eternity changing reality of a relationship with Jesus Christ. The goal of "home plate" is to get everyone home to heaven (2 Peter 3:9, Romans 10:9-10). Our Mission Field We have been called to draw people closer to God in Jesus Christ. We are able to communicate and have greater influence with people as they move from having never heard of SWC to becoming a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ serving Him here. A good way to visualize this is through the Commitment diagram of concentric circles. 1. Community. On-line this is around the world. On-site this is those within driving distance of our campus. We communicate God's love and hopes for their lives. 2. Crowd. On-line this is anyone who visits our web-site or Facebook page. On-site this is those who gather for worship or any other event. 3. Congregation. All who have made a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ, been baptized, and are members of SWC. 4. Committed. Those who take seriously their membership vows of Prayers - Presence - Gifts - Service - Witness and are making Christ and His Kingdom work central to their life. 5. Core. Those who provide leadership at all levels within SWC. 6. Commissioned. Those called, recognized, and set apart for Christ's work for specialized ministry whether within SWC or sent out into the world for commissioned, licensed, or ordained ministry. |
